Woody's adventure so far...(2004929)

Distance travelled: 37289 km, 23170 miles

Woody is currently having a private adventure! (What does this mean?)

First class, the only way to travel!

Town: Dallas

DSC01558.JPG

I'm travelling first class back to London! Hurrah! Perhaps I'll get a glass of champagne before lift off. I hope I'll be able to catch up on my sleep in my comfortable seat/bed.....Bears do like a good snooze after all....

Waiting for a plane...

Town: Dallas

DSC01555.JPG

Dallas Fort Worth Airport. Tired from travelling but really getting some miles under my belt. I'm killing time by watching the planes take off and land.

America...home of the Bears

Town: Atlanta

DSC01548.JPG

I've travelled so far and here I am in Atlanta USA. Yet another park! I wonder if my cousins Brown and Grizzly are in town to go out for a bite to eat later....

Terminal Boredom

Town: London

DSC01547.JPG

Well, I've flown all the way back from Japan and now waiting for my flight through to USA. Although I'm a little fed up with long distance flights, I'm really quite excited at the prospect of America!

City Bears

Town: Tokyo

DSC01538.JPG

Just one more day in Tokyo. Here's the view from my hotel room. I can see a lovely park...I wonder if there are any bears living in Japan????

Turning Japanese-a!

Town: Tokyo

DSC01543.JPG

WOW! I've got lots of travelling planned for the next few weeks and I'm already half way across the world. Here I am in Tokyo. I'm just checking into the hotel and the very nice receptionist has asked to see my passport. Looks like I'll get a Japanese stamp in it!

When is it time for apple strudel?

Town: Vienna

DSC01536.JPG

It was just a 40 minute drive to Vienna from Bratislava and I've popped into the office to visit some very friendly Austrian colleagues. All very well but I'd rather be eating a nice bit of strudel with a warming hot chocolate to drink. Just got to finish off this pile of work in the in-tray first...

A bridge too far

Town: Bratislava

DSC01532.JPG

Now how about this for a silly looking bridge. It looks like a UFO has landed on it! This is the bridge over the River Danube in Bratislava. I'm here for just 2 days but  we've already looked around the old town and done some shopping. I'm hoping to eat fried cheese for dinner as it's a local speciality and sounds yummy. Tomorrow I travel over the bridge and head for Vienna.

Serious history in Sarajevo

Town: Sarajevo

DSC01523.JPG

Well I've not been travelling for quite a while so it was refreshing to get out once again and what a beautiful part of the world this is! I'm in Sarajevo in Bosnia and behind me is one of the most important bridges in European history as this is where the Archduke Ferdinand was killed in 1914 which led to that start of the First World War. Who would have thought that this could have happened in such a lovely peaceful spot....

Woody tames Tibbles!

Town: Stubbington

DSC01442.JPG

I've been to Stubbington on the south coast of England to visit my family. While I was there I met Mr Tibbles. Did you know that cats have 32 muscles in each ear? Not this one though because he once had a little accident with a kitchen cupboard and now his right ear is a little worse for wear!

I like pussy cats!

At the airport

Town: Schiphol.

DSC01335.JPG

Finished work and now we're heading back home to London. Schiphol airport is nice - look at this great statue!

On the road again

Town: Zevenbergen

DSC01331.JPG

We're just driving to Zevenbergen in Holland for a bit of work. I've been navigating using 'Jane' the sat-nav. It's much easier than using a traditional map!

A weekend visit with family

Town: Stone

DSC01330.JPG

We're having a lovely weekend in Stone in Staffordshire (England) visiting my grandparents (Ethne and Joe). Stone is an old canal town and in the photo I'm sitting on a lock on the trent and Mersey canal in front of our house. The locks are used by narrow boats to go up and down hill. These days the canal is used only for pleasure and today there are many people going by in the colourful painted boats enjoying their summer holidays. What lovely countryside there is here!

All work and no play...

Town: Lausanne

DSC01321.JPG

I'm in the office in Lausanne and I can see is beautfiul sunshine and clear blue skies through the window. It's not  really a day for being indoors! I wish I was out there relaxing on a nice little sail boat bobbing along on Lake Geneva. Maybe on my next trip to Swizerland I'll plan in a bit more time to enjoy myself, but for today it's back to work. Ho hum...

Now it's Istanbul not Constantinople...

Town: Istanbul

DSC01317.JPG

Here I am in Istanbul. This is the view from the balcony of the hotel down towards Taksim Square and then the Bosporos in the background (including ship!). I've had a lovely time here, although some of it was work (sigh!). We've bought hazelnuts and some traditional Turkish sweets to take home to England. Turkey produces over 70% of the world's hazelnuts and I think they taste absolutley yummy....especially in a chocolate cookie!

Land Ahoy!

Town: Dover

DSC01312.JPG

White cliffs of Dover. Nearly back on British soil.

On the boat

Town: Dunkirk

DSC01310.JPG

Well we're back on the ferry from Dunkirk (or Dunquerque if you're French...which I'm not!) and heading home to England. Hope I don't fall overboard!

No mustard in sight

Town: Dijon

DSC01303.JPG

It's such a long drive back to England from the south of France so we've stopped off for a night in Dijon. In the morning we had time to stroll around the lovely old town...but no sign of the mustard which Dijon is so famous for!

C'est la vie!

Town: La Croix Valmer

DSC01293.JPG
A week of sun, sea and swimming as we relax at a friend's house in the village of La Croix Valmer, on the south coast of France near St Tropez. Goodness it's hot in this fur coat!

A visit to some distant relatives

Town: Cramard

DSC01292.JPG

Phew, a rest from all that driving! We had a lovely overnight stay with Auntie Angela and Uncle Ian. Here's a picture of us all together in front of their beautiful home in the countryside in the tiny hamlet of Cramard just outside Poitiers.

Finally we're on the road!

Town: Dover

DSC01288.JPG

Here I am in Dover waiting for the ferry to take me on holiday to France. Very exciting for me as it's my first time abroad. But the crossing to France means no visa required in my passport yet...

We have lift off!

Town: London

DSC01449.JPG

I've just arrived in London by magic and I'm sitting waiting for my new owner to collect me from her desk. I wonder where she'll take me first. More news to come!
