Treacle in Smygehuk
Posted December 3rd, 2011 by TreacleHello!
We've travelled to Smygehuk, which is the most the Southernmost point of Sweden. It's got a lovely shallow sandy headland and lots of pebble beaches. It was a lovely way to finish the trip. There is a statue of a lady wearing very few clothes looking out over the harbour. The lady that posed for it was the grandmother of the American actress Uma Thurman! I wasn't allowed to go and see the statue, too young. :) More soon.

Treacle in Ystad
Posted December 1st, 2011 by TreacleHello!
I'm now in the city where Wallander is filmed - Ystad. It's a really lovely place and there are definitely more things worth seeing here than just taking the tour and seeing where Kurt lives (in the programme, not in real life). There has been a settlement here since the 11th century, which is so cool! We also took a trip out to see the Ales Stenar, it's a really old stone circle in the shape of a ship and they think King Ale is buried here. No-one really knows how old it is, but carbon dating has given us a couple of dates, 600CE or 3500BCE. Confusing, but still awesome and very old! More soon.

Treacle in Helsingborg
Posted November 30th, 2011 by TreacleHello!
I've started a new adventure. I've travelled over the south of Sweden, it's lovely down here and we started our tour in Helsignborg. This is Sweden's 9th largest municipality. Before the bridge was built between Sweden and Denmark this was the place that all the ferries came to. I visited the Helsingborg castle tower, which was from the 14th century. Very medieval!

Treacle at Boston AIrport
Posted November 13th, 2011 by TreacleHello!
Our last stop on our journey, Boston airport. It was a scary place for a little bear. The check in screens were so large, but I managed to find the right gate. I was a little worried about the K-9 teams sign, I'm sure I would be a tiny mouthfull for a big dog <scary!> I did like the cow though, he let me ride on him, that was fun. End of an adventure, time for new one!

Treacle in the Von Trapp Family Lodge
Posted November 1st, 2011 by Treacle Hello!
We've travelled to Vermont and are staying in the wonderful Von Trapp family lodge. It was a wonderful place to stay. It was amazing to see what happened to the Von Trapp family after "The Sound of Music". They fled from the Nazi's in the war and went to America. They opened up a small guest house. It grew and grew and became really popular and is now really, really wonderful place to stay. Hmm - I hear the sauna calling! Another update soon. :)

Treacle in Boston
Posted October 19th, 2011 by TreacleHello!
I'm on a brand new adventure with a lovely new companion. We've flown over the pond to America to see some autumn countryside. We started off in Boston, which is a really old city first founded in 1630! It's the capital of Massachusetts and was a lovely city. I had a very good view from the hotel window, but I couldn't really get my head around the coffee machine. I thought America was supposed to be the home of large things, but this coffee machine was really quite teddy sized! I figured it out in th end! More soon.

Treacle on the Cog Railway
Posted October 3rd, 2011 by TreacleHello!
I've been having such a wonderful time in Austria. We went to the Mozart Blick, which was great, but to get a good view of the area I had to be lifted onto the sign with a pole. It was quite scary! We also went up the cog railway, or the Schafberg Bahn as they call it here. It was brilliant! I enjoyed being back on the train again. The flowers at the top were really, really pretty! Another adventure soon!

Treacle at Mozart's Birthplace
Posted October 3rd, 2011 by TreacleHello!
I've been on an adventure to Austria. Of course when you think of Austria you think of Mozart, so we went to visit Mozart's birthplace. He lived on the third floor at the "Hagenauer House" at Getreidegasse 9. There were so many people around that I had to have some help in seeing over all the heads of the people. We went on a boat ride, but I was really confused by all the information on the board. Lucky that I was travelling with some good friends who understood the information otherwise I'd have really got into some trouble! More soon!

After my long adventure to Australia I had a bit of a rest, but I'm all ready for new adventures now! To keep myself fit whilst I've been at home I went cycling! You have to prepare properly to go cycling, making sure your tyres are pumped up properly and make sure you wear a proper cycling helmet. Then you're ready to off for a ride!

Treacle in Economy Class
Posted June 1st, 2011 by TreacleHello!
Of course all good things come to an end and our time in Business Class with champagne was only for the first leg of 14 hours. Once we got to Abu Dhabi we were put straight back in economy class again, where I had to share a seat with the nyckelharpa.
Luckily it was only for 7 hours and we were soon back in the UK. The end of an amazing adventure!

Treacle in Business Class
Posted June 1st, 2011 by TreacleHello!
Finally, we finished our long drive and got to the airport. Unfortunately we had a bit of a problem and mix up with our tickets and that meant we had to pay lots of extra money (which we hope to get back again!) But because I was a very polite and well behaved little bear I got upgraded to business class. I thought this was awesome - the bed was flat, I had a wonderful blanket and the seat even had vibrating controls to give my little back a massage - it was brilliant! I slept and ate very well indeed!

Treacle in Holbrook
Posted June 1st, 2011 by TreacleHello!
We've started our long journey back to the UK now. We started by driving from Melbourne back to Sydney. As we passed through a little town called Holbrook I noticed something that looked really strange and out of place, seeing as we were miles and miles from the sea... a submarine! I had to go and take a closer look. It was really the shell of a submarine outside the Submarine Museum - ah all makes sense.... I think! We only stopped for lunch, a long journey home from here!

Treacle and the Royal Wedding
Posted June 1st, 2011 by TreacleHello!
Whilst we were on our whirlwind tour of Australia, the Royal Wedding happened! I had to make do with the best that I had, so I'd brought with me a tea towel to hang up and then watched the proceedings on my trusty iPhone. She did look very lovely in the dress, every inch a princess!

Treacle in Melbourne
Posted May 21st, 2011 by TreacleHello!
We made it down to Melbourne and I decided to go for a walk. Melbourne is the capital city of the state of Victoria and was founded in 1835. I wandered around the many lanes, there were lots of chocolate shops and wonderful little shops. I found some scales by one shop that sold chocolate frogs that was imported from England. I also found a wonderful statue of a family that was reunited. A lovely city. :) Not here long though, time to get back on the road.

Australia is huge, not just huge, but huuuuuge! We've hired a car and drove from Canberra down to Melbourne, it took us forever. Luckily I slept quite a lot of the way, so it wasn't too bad, but still, wow! Large country! I got a nice birdseye view of the road of the bits that I was awake for!

Treacle in Canberra
Posted May 12th, 2011 by TreacleHello!
We left Brisbane and carried on down to Canberra to go to the National Folk Festival. There was so much happening, so much music, so many people. The weather was wonderful and all was brilliant... until.... I finally saw my first kangaroo. It was a bit scarey, so I kept well back, I didn't want to be mistaken for a baby kangaroo and then get lost in a pouch somewhere! There was something a bit strange about these kangaroos though! More soon.

Posted May 11th, 2011 by TreacleHello!
Australia is such a large place and we've flown all the way up the east coast to Brisbane, well I say all the way up, some of the way up, there is still much more northwards! I went to see a friend and we had a lovely time playing. We played lots with lego and flying machine/creatures, it was a bit scary really, but I managed to keep mostly out of trouble! It was a wonderful view out of their house southwards. Bliss! Still not staying here long, straight back on the road again!

Treacle in Sydney Part 2
Posted May 8th, 2011 by TreacleHello all!
When you're in Sydney you just have to go to see the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. The Opera House was opened in 1973 after the winning design being submitted in 1953. That's a really long time to win a competition and finally get your design made! Wow! The Sydney Harbour Bridge was started in 1923 and finally finished in 1932. I definitely need to come back to Australia and climb to the top of the bridge and have my photograph taken, I'm sure the view would be totally amazing! We're not staying long in Sydney, so it's time to get on the move again!

Treacle in Abu Dhabi
Posted May 4th, 2011 by TreacleHello!
The thing about long journeys is just that, they're very long! This journey had two flights and the first flight stopped off in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. It was about 4am British Summer time when we got there and it was very tiring! So my companion and I decided to get some sleep. Funny thing is, I had deja vu about being here before and trying to get some sleep with my travel companion! Not a long stop - straight back on the plane again! More soon.

I've travelled back over to Sweden again, I do like it in Sweden. It's still a bit snowy in the North. I visited a remote village where there is a famous boat grave. There is a historical period in Sweden called the Vendel Period which is from 550 - 800AD. This is the village that it took its name from - gosh vey historical. It was wet and rainy and definitely time to get inside! A new adventure soon!

Posted April 7th, 2011 by TreacleHello!
I've travelled over the pond again to Detroit. It was cold and icy! We had a hotel room really high up, so you can see me sitting at the bottom of the hotel and then looking out of the window. The best part was looking over the icy water to Canada. It reminded me of when I started my travels out on the west coast of Canada and Whistler. Fun times! :) I'd like to go back again, maybe one day. As always, a flying visit, I have a much larger adventure coming soon and I need to head home to get ready!

Posted March 16th, 2011 by TreacleHello!
After Christmas I joined up with a troupe of Scouts for the World Scout Conference in Curitiba in Brazil. I had no idea that Brazil was sooo large, luckily I had my friend Sven to help guide me around. There were about 2000 scouts from around 137 countries! There was so much to do that I didn't really get much chance to see any of Brazil, but I got to see a few things in Curitiba before having to head home again. It's very tiring this scouting. I probably need time to rest, but I can't I'm back on the road again!

Of course I tried to help with putting up Christmas decorations, but it's hard and yes I ended up getting into trouble again! Putting up advent candles is a dangerous business for a little bear! I needed a little time to prepare for my next adventure, so I spent most of that time sleeping and of course packing and training....

Posted January 4th, 2011 by TreacleHello!
I've been on an adventure to Strawberry Hill. A lovely little Gothic Castle by Horace Walpole. It's a wonderful place from the 18th century and all the rooms are being done up in the original colours and styles. It was wonderfully bright and shiny! We had to wear special plastic slippers, which were really quite awkward to wear! I managed to climb to the top of the stairs and decided to say hello to one of the golden figures, but of course, I slipped and fell all the way back down to the bottom and straight into the basket full of plastic slippers! Treacle Harvesting Walnuts
Posted December 2nd, 2010 by TreacleHello!
I just managed to get in my harvest of walnuts before the weather turned all snowy and cold! It's not an easy thing to harvest walnuts when you're as small as me. I spotted one high up in the tree that looked perfect, so I clibed up to get it, but of course I slipped and was left dangling by my foot! I was there for a little while until I managed to wiggle it loose and I fell. Luckily I managed to land nice and softly (still clutching my walnut!) I landed next to my good friends the froggies. They were a little covered in weeds, so I helped them out disentangling them. I did manage to get quite a lot of walnuts by the end of the day, but phew that was hard work!

I've just had a really cool adventure in London! We set off really early and caught the train and tube (of course I've been to London before, so I knew where I was going!) and went to the Royal Albert Hall. It was an awesome production with around 1500 children taking part, I didn't see any bears though. The Royal Albert Hall is an amazingly large place and I did get quite lost trying to get right up to the top. The best view was definitely just behind the orchestra though! Amazing. I'm back in England for a brief stop over and I've headed up north to Fleetwood. It's peninsular with the sea on three sides of the town and wonderful trams crisscrossing everywhere. I went up to the high point, called The Mount, which was originally built on a very large sand dune! There was a very nice view of the esplanade and I guess there would have been a good view of the pier, if it hadn't been destroyed by fire in 2008. :(

Posted October 14th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
It's been a truly magical time up here in the arctic circle. I've seen lots of new things, including reindeer and cloudberries. We stopped on the path and walked around picking and eating cloudberries. They were really tasty! I had to have some help though, I couldn't carry many, so I had to have a helping hand stash! It felt really great to have completed the hike from Nikkaluokta to Abisko via Kebnekaisa, a distance of 125 kilometers! I met up with Mini-Sven at the end and we went off to the hostel to grab a shower before heading back to the train. So, that's the end of this adventure. It's time for me to find a new one. Now which country will I go to next?

I've managed to hook into the Teddy secret communication network again to let you know that the hike up on the Kungsleden north of the Arctic Circle is going well. I wondered about a bit today and found what looked like a very tasty mushroom. I wasn't totally sure if it was safe to eat though, so I put it back where I found it. I'm having lots of fun walking up here though and definitely I'm not spending too much time hitching lifts in rucksacks and I'm getting lots of exercises. Some of the huts we are staying in have saunas, which are very nice to relax in at the end of a long days walk! It's wonderful being here!

Treacle makes it to Sälka
Posted October 10th, 2010 by TreacleHello,
We've been walking hard and we're now totally out of touch with civilization, no mobile phones work out here, the only connection you have is when you pass another walker and wave at them. We've reached another called, the Sälka hut. The sound of the waterfalls is awesome, and you just get water out of the streams with a foldable cup, called a kåsa. It's so quiet (except when the helicopter goes overhead). When the ground gets boggy there are these tracks to walk along called spång. It's great! Anyway, I'm using the secret bear network to get this message through and my time is up. I'll update again soon!

Well, after the gruelling day climbing Kebnekaise we walked on out the other side from the mountain station and westwards towards the Kungsleden the Kings Trail. I was quite exhausted, but I kept going. We stopped for lunch at a lovely stream, where I paddled my feet, splashed water and made a dam. It was lots of fun! Then we kept on going westwards until we made it to the hut. No electricity, running water was the stream outside and a hole in the ground for a toilet. It was brilliant! We saw lots of reindeer too! Brilliant! Early night tonight, quite tired!

Treacle at the Top of Sweden!
Posted October 6th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
What a day! A very fantastic wonderful, but very tiring day! I climbed to the very top of Sweden, the top of the mountain Kebnekaise. It was brilliant, but boy was I tired. We started off early in the morning and climbed and climbed and climbed. Steep grassy, steep rocks, steep glacier, steep rock climb, steep rocks, steep glacier ..... summit! I was given a walking pole, but it was a bit long for me, so I leant it to someone else to use. :) The view from the top was really very, very stunning. The walk down was very long and hard, so I snuck into a rucksack and had a bit of a snooze. I know that's cheating, but I had done the hard bit! After 11 and a half hours we were safely down. Phew! Boy am I going to sleep well tonight!

Posted October 3rd, 2010 by TreacleHello!
There is no rest for travelling teddy bear and of couse, I'm back on the train again. I've travelled up from sunny old Sidmouth, flying to Stockholm and then hopping onto the train to go back up to the north of Sweden. I was up here earlier in the year and it was all lovely and snowy. This time I'm going on a high adventure up in the arctic circle. More about that when we get there though! Once we'd got on the overnight train we had our dinner, mmm, Toblerone and then we slept and soon found ourselves in the land of the midnight sun! I thoroughly explored our three berth cabin and narrowly escaped being stuck in the cupboard! There wasn't much view from the window as we got further and further north... There should be better views later in this trip! More soon!

I've made it back from Africa now and have ended up in the wonderful coastal town of Sidmouth. It's on the jurassic coast and has wonderful red cliffs rising high above the sea. After all my climbing in Africa I was inspired. So early one morning, just as the day was dawning, I set out along the beach to explore. I could see a really pretty bell tower at the top of the cliff, so I started to climb and climb. Of course I got my head stuck in the cliff face and I was left dangling for a little while. Eventually I managed to scramble to a little ledge and here I sat for a while contemplating the wonderful blue sea and sky and the lovely red cliff....

Treacle in Nairobi part II
Posted September 19th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
Well, having been caught as a suspect, I was put behind behind bars for a little while. You can see me with some other fluffy suspects in the picture above. I wasn't in there for long though and I was soon released and I decided to learn all about some of the other fruit and vegetables in Kenya. First I learnt about the avocado tree and the rosemary bush. Then I found the banana tree, it was hard to climb the tree, but I managed it and found out that the smaller bananas were much tastier than the big ones! Whilst I was looking in the garden I found an orchestra in the garden, they reminded me a little of another froggy orchestra I found on an adventure earlier on this year back in England.... I might have to see if I can go back to that orchestra and see if they know each other! More soon!

I decided that I would go for a ride with Tangesa and so we set off and this was great fun. I tried to ride with Simba too, but she was too small and it wasn't so easy. I guess half the problem was that she was asleep too and I woke her up. She mistook me to be an intruder and soon had me in a solid grip. Luckily the misunderstanding was soon cleared up. But then, because I wasn't wearing a collar I was mistaken for a dog by the local dog catcher and taken to the local dog pound. I was soon rescued again though and taken back to safety. Phew! A dangerous day!

Posted September 14th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
I'm having the most amazing adventure. I am seeing so many different kinds of animals on this trip! We are on safari in the Masai Mara and are in Tanzania next to the border with Serengeti. We've seen wilderbeasts, zebras, giraffes, buffalos, lions and elephants! It has been wild! Having had such a wonderful day it was good to go and relax in front of the Masai Mara Sopa lodge and relax for the evening! More adventures to come though!

Treacle at Hells Gate
Posted September 9th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
I've taken a day trip to the Rift Valley and to Hells Gate. I'm not sure what I expected, but it was a fun day out. I met up with Mini-Sven and we walked together for a while. We sat high on some rocks to exchange our travelling stories. Of course I got into trouble and slipped and fell from the high rocks. Mini-Sven did try to save me, but he couldn't catch me in time. I landed soft on the volcanic ash on the floor though. So I was safe and sound. Phew! More soon!

I've moved onto a new country, Kenya. It's very cool here, lots and lots of animals, so we went to visit an elephant orphanage. The elephants were all very, very cool. We also had a bit of relaxing time by the Windsor Golk Club swimming pool. I made sure that I got my towel down by pool good and early to get the best seat! More soon!

Treacle in Zanzibar
Posted September 1st, 2010 by TreacleEvening,
I've moved onto a semi-autonomous part of Tanzania -the Zanzibar Archipeligo. It's a lovely place full of wonderful beaches. I decided with all the walking up mountains that it was time to go to the beach. You can see me on Western Zanzibar north of Stone town. Then you can see me on the beach on the Eastern side. Then you can see me where I always seem to end up .... buried in sand. Sigh! Another adventure soon.

Treacle Descending Kilimanjaro
Posted August 25th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
Having made it safely to the top of Uhuru Peak I was so excited and what with the lack of oxygen and everything I decided to have a go at my jumping up at the top and try to land on the fluffy clouds below. I thought it would be a much better and quicker way of getting down. So I jumped and I kept on falling, but I didn't manage to reach the fluffy soft clouds to land on. Luckily there was a kind porter who saved me and help me down the normal path for the rest of the way! I met up with Mini-Sven again at the bottom of the mountain. So we shared travel stories again before deciding to head off to a new country for a rest and new adventures.

I finally made it! After such a very, very long slow walk I made it to the top! You'll never guess who is also up here! The world is so very small. My very good friend Mini-Sven has also made it to the top! It was great to see him again, he'll keep an eye on me and make sure I don't get lost! It was so good to get to the top and I'm really, really tired now! Such little air up here, it's so hard to breath, so I can't write much!

Posted August 22nd, 2010 by TreacleHello!
It's the third day of climbing up to the top of Kilimanjaro and it's really, really tough going. We have to walk very, very slowly. We've already reached 4700 meters, but we've still got 1200 meters more to climb before we reach the top! All the small vegetation has gone and I can feel the top is getting close, but it's very hard. More tomorrow!

Posted August 21st, 2010 by TreacleHello!
The second day of climbing Kilimanjaro was tough, but being above the jungle level meant that the view was brilliant. We were above the clouds and we could even see our destination, the peak! You could also see Mount Meru peaking out up over the clouds. Each day the very kind porters made sure that I had a good seat for dinner, which was very important, because it was very tiring walking! Only a short update, more tomorrow as we get higher and higher!

Posted August 20th, 2010 by TreacleEvening!
I've started a brand new adventure. I've travelled south from Stockholm to Tanzania in East Africa, which is a scary place for a little bear like me, so I'm going to try to be as careful as possible! You can see me in the pictures at the Machame gate at the bottom of Mount Kilimanjaro.... the start of a very long hike, a 6 day climb up Mount Kilimajaro! The climb went through several different vegetation zones. The first one was the jungle. I got very excited and ran, but unfortunately I got lost. Fortunately some porters found me only half a meter from the track, phew! I spent my first night under canvas too, it was a lot of fun!
Another update soon!

Treacle on the Boat from Riga
Posted July 15th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
This is my last update from my Belarus adventure. We took the boat from Riga to Stockholm. It was very exciting to sit by the window looking out at the view over the sea. I made sure that I didn't fall out of the window, that would be have been very bad indeed! I thought I would explore the room a little and found the bed, it was very comfortable, well it was until it folded itself up and I fell out and straight into the lamp. Ouch, it was quite hot! Definitely time to finish this adventure so I don't get into more trouble! I need to plan for my next adventure!

Posted July 8th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
I'm having a lovely time here in Belarus. We've now travelled on over to Minsk, which is the capital city and the largest city in Belarus. The earliest reference to Minsk was in the 11th century when it was just a city in the principality of Polotsk, then it bacme part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, then it was part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, then it was annexed by Russia and then it was the capital of the Byelorussian Soviet Republic and finally just part of Belarus in 1991. Phew, lots of history! You can see me here in front of the ballet and opera house, in the hotel lobby and finally at the hotel Lido - nice. More adventures soon!

Treacle in Brest II
Posted June 28th, 2010 by TreacleEvening!
We've been out and about in Brest now. We visited the gigantic war monument, it was constructed on the site of the 1941 battle to commemorate the defenders of the Hero-Fortress. Amazingly tall, I felt quite small sat there on the floor next to it! So I could get a better look I climbed tree, I could see a man there, but I couldn't quite reach him.... In the war museum I found some canons, so took a better look one of them, but I didn't stay long , I knew what the long pipe was this time! Then I found a much better view of the war monument, but it really wasn't a very comfortable one, so I decided it was time to move on! More from Belarus soon!

I've started out on a brand new adventure! There are so many fantastic places to visit in Europe and I've hardly been to any of them yet! All the best adventures though have to be by train I think, so we took the train all the way down Sweden and down into Germany. Here you can see me at the fantastic Hauptbahnhof in Berlin. Of course you have to be very careful as a little bear and I think the seats were made for bigger people than me and I got caught in a flipped up seat. Sigh! Here is my final update from the north of Sweden. We reached the top of the Norddalsjäll and I decided that I wanted to jump for joy, but unfortunately the wind caught me and I flew much further than I wanted to! Mountains are very tall and you can fall a very long way! I fell head first in the snow, and of course I got buried, again! I got stuck there for a little while, but luckily I was rescued, phew! I got caught up in an avalanche, it was only a small avalanche, but it was still very, very scary. I was only mostly buried, but I was rescued very quickly. Phew, thank goodness for that! I was fine, but a bit shaken by the whole thing. I hope the rest of the trip goes ok!

Treacle goes to Katterjåkk
Posted June 2nd, 2010 by TreacleEvening all!
I've continued my journey up to the North of Sweden (by train of course!) I've come to Katterjåkk which is so far north that it's still winter and there is over a meter of!! This means that I could practise my ski touring and of course when you go skiing you have to prepare properly and make sure you have a proper breakfast. They talk a bit funny this far north and I was so excited about skiing again that I got a bit confused about what they said about the eggs, so I ended up laying an egg, which was very strange indeed! I made sure I was securely attached to the rucksack, all ready for the tour. After a while in the rucksack though I wanted to try out the skiing again, so I got out and put my paws through the poles. I had the usual problem though and my feet didn't touch the snow, sigh! After a while of strenuous dangling it was time for a break with my blueberry soup drunk with a spork. Lovely!
Another update very soon from the far north!

It's really great to be on the road again having been stuck at home not being able to go anywhere because of the volcanic ash cloud. I went to visit an old friend of mine that I hadn't seen for a while, Vassi the dog and his sister. We decided to line up for a nice group photo shot and I took a the lovely soft seat on the back of Vassi, but because he was a bit slippery Vassi's sister helped me so that I wouldn't fall. Unfortunately Vassi sister is only 2 and of course I fell off all the way down to where Vassi's teeth were...... Sigh, I hope this adventure doesn't go horribly wrong and I get into lots of trouble again!

I got the yarn all messed around my body and then ending up getting sucked into the box of yarn and had to be rescued again. Sigh! At least the planes are flying again now, so finally I can get on with my next adventure. I'm going to visit good old friend who will take me to some cool places! Yippee!

Treacle Stuck at Home
Posted May 3rd, 2010 by TreacleHello!
Well, I was very lucky and made it home four days before the Icelandic volcano, Eyjafjallajökull, erupted and spewed lots of ash and steam into the air. As I'm sure everyone knew, it totally stopped all the flights in Europe. I watched a particular site and saw the planes gradually retreating into the south of Europe. I watched as the sky gradually cleared from it's usual criss-cross of vapour trails. I watched as the flight I was supposed to take on my next adventure was cancelled, I sat with a very glum face not being able to go anywhere :(
Sigh.

You can also see me on the balcony with the Pacific Ocean behind me. There was a hammock, which I climbed into. It was a large hammock and I got to share it. It was very, very, very swingy though and I swung so much that I made myself seasick, sigh! My journey was made very special by my new friend Snoopy. It took us a while to get used to each other, but by the end of the adventure we were great pals, so I hope to go away with him again! Thank you for looking after me!!!! A new adventure soon.

We took a trip over to see the Arenal Volcano and stayed at the Arenal Volcano Lodge. You could hear the volcano rumble away every 20 minutes or so, it was really quite scary for a little teddy bear like me, so I wasn't allowed to go and see the volcano, but my travelling companions went to see the lava coming out of the volcano. (Little did I know what chaos was going to happen round in Europe not long after I went here!) From Arenal we took a little Natureair plane and flew down to the south of the country. The plane was really tiny, a 17.5 seater (I was the .5!) I made sure I belted myself in properly in the seat, I didn't want to get into trouble!

We went out into the jungle and we saw all the great trees. We couldn't spend all day in the jungle though, not when the swimming pool at the hotel was so inviting. I found a perfect sized canoe to have a go in, which was next to the Manatus landing stage, but I wasn't allowed to go in the real water with my canoe, just in case.....

Scared silly! Having calmed down a bit though I found the balcony in our hotel, the Xandari, and relaxed in a chair, before making friends with a stone Armadillo, who just happened to be the perfect size for me to ride on. This looks like being an awesome country! More very soon!

I couldn't wait to get back on the road, so I took myself off out into the garden, up the rockery, through the fence, had a nice chat with Mr Potts on the bench, then through the cat flap (with some difficulty!) and sat myself on the windowsill all ready to go on my next adventure. I've just been on a whirlwind trip to Porto in Portugal. It was a very early start as you can imagine! I had to go to the top of a hotel, but I had no idea how I was going to get up to the top of the building. It can be very difficult with such short legs to get to the top of tall hotels. Luckily, I found a handy bag with an owner that seemed to be going in the same direction as me. So I hopped in and low and behold, before I knew it I was at the top of the hotel looking out on the wonderful view! It was a bit cloudy, but a nice view anyway! Another adventure soon!

This is where the Trojan horse came from, he was a gift from the Greeks to the people of Troy, but he wasn't really a gift, he was filled with soldiers and there was lots of death and slaughtering, bleurch! Then we went to Pergamon and found a statue of an Roman Dude. I did wonder what on earth he had underneath his frock, especially as he was headless, but I couldn't really see anything. Treacle the Lecturer
Posted February 1st, 2010 by TreacleGood evening ladies and gentleman,
I think I've become quite a famous travelling bear as I was invited to be the guest speaker at a lecture in Linköping Universitet. I was a little nervous, what with it being my first lecture, but I took the stand, but I had my subject, "On the Joy of Travelling", I had my power point presentation, I was all set! I think the best part of the lecture was when I explained how to enjoy waiting - sporting activities, exploring ticket machines, mimicking people. The hardest bit about lecturing was definitely trying to use the pointer. It was very big and heavy, it took all my strength to lift it up! I really enjoyed being a lecturer though, maybe when I retire from travelling that's what I'll do, be a lecturer!
I'm now leaving for a new adventure, I've said my fond farewell to my faithful companion Anders and I'm looking forward to saying hello to my new companions. I'm sure I'll go on the road with Anders again though, thank you for taking care of me!

My trip to Dublin has been really great. I've seen some really great things, including the Dublin Spire, which was the winning entry to replace Nelson's Pillar, which was blown up in 1966. It was a great place to meet up with people! Then I sat beneath a really huge statue and met a dog. Luckily he was only a statue too, so I didn't get into any trouble with him. After a very long day in the city you have to sit down with a lovely soothing coffee. Of course, being in Ireland I had to order an Irish coffee. Um, no-one told me that an Irish coffee has Whisky in it :( I found out after I'd drunk the coffee though. It's a good thing that it was my last day in Ireland! Another adventure soon.

As we went round we were shown how the beer is made, you can see the barley before the roasting. Then fresh water from the mountains outside of Dublin are added. I tried to drive the engine that is used in the factory area, but I wasn't very good, it's not really made for little bears like me! Finally you end up in the sky bar on the 7th floor. There is an amazing view over Dublin and of course you have to have a pint of Guinness, it was very, very nice! slurp.

The travelling arrangements for a little bear can be a little bit difficult sometimes. In Dublin there is a new tram system, brand new, it's called the Luas Tramway and we took the tram all the way to it's final stop in Tallaght. The cold seats in the tram stops aren't helped much by bearing furry and it's cold in January in Dublin! The seats in the trams are a little bit big really, even the disabled seats aren't right for little bears. But there is definitely one fun way of travelling. I noticed all the human people holding on to the high up handles, now they fitted me perfectly! A great adventure on the tram though and I didn't get into trouble once!

Treacle Goes to Dublin
Posted January 26th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
I'm on a brand new adventure. I've travelled all the way from Sweden and over to Dublin. When you're travelling to new places all the time it can take a bit of getting used to using new transport systems. I found it quite hard to buy a ticket to get the bus into town, as you can see - sigh. I did manage to get my ticket though and took the bus, I got a nice view from the window. We got to the hotel and I thought I'd settle in a little bit. In the hotel room I found a trouser press and it reminded me of an adventure I had nearly a year ago! Another big sigh! I was surprised to find that in Ireland it was really, really cold. I think it's a different sort of cold really, far more damp and horrible. I managed to find a way of keeping myself warm. Luckily though I realised that maybe it wasn't such a good place to be and I decided it was time to go out before I could get myself into any more trouble!

Treacle Goes Skating
Posted January 19th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
Ljungbro seemed to be a good place for winter activities, so today we went back there for another adventure. This time we went to the Göta Kanal where someone had ploughed a track in the snow on the ice. We started to skate at the Heda Lock. Unfortunately there were lots and lots of people out skating and because I was so small I didn't see all the people and I managed to get myself run over by a skate, that wasn't fun at all! After that I managed to find the only hole in the ice and got myself stuck. It wasn't turning into a very good day at all. :(
Luckily I met up with some very kind friends who showed me how to wear and use ice prods, these keep you safe on natural ice. I also learnt about the using the whistle if you are in touble, which actually happens rather a lot to me! So I found the best way for skating was to hold on very tight to the ice prods around someone elses neck and then I stayed nice and safe. We managed to skate somewhere between 3 to 4 kilometers west along the canal this way. It was lots of fun!
Another adventure soon!

Treacle Goes Crosscountry Skiing
Posted January 12th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
I'm now back in Sweden again and am enjoying the wonderful snow we've got over here. I decided to go out for a walk and happened to pass by the Vreta Kloster Golf Club, out by Ljungsbro near Linköping. I was so amazed to see the car park so full of cars! Of course I had to go and see what was going on, how could people be playing golf with so much snow everywhere?
Of course no-one could be playing golf, they were crosscountry skiing! I found a 10 kilometer track and got my skis out, but very cleverly I realised that if the start and the goal ('mål') is at the same place, you don't even have to put on the skis!
So I made a really large snowman whilst my friends were all skiing. Lots of fun and far less tiring!
A new adventure coming up soon!

Posted January 9th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
Well, having come down from the mountain I thought it was very important to have some aprés ski. I had arrived back down again just in time for the happy hour at "Ski Lodge Engelberg", a newly opened place ran by two swedes, where I ordered a large local beer, Eichhof. It was rather too large for me though and I fell asleep at the bar. I think it was because I was very sleepy after such an exciting day up the mountain. I was carried home by my wonderful travelling companions and taken to bed. In the morning I woke up very late after everyone else had left, so I climbed down out of the top bunk and decided to have a very relaxed day and sat on the balcony for fresh air. Very nice and relaxing and I could plan for my next adventure!

Treacle in Engelberg Pt II
Posted January 9th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
Well, now I'm going to let you know what I got up to after going cross country skiing in the woods! I stumbled across a log pile, which was really cool, the logs were all stacked so tidily, so I couldn't help but climb up it to see how it was done. Next I came to a lovely little log building with an interesting chain hanging from the roof. It was all covered in ice, I wasn't sure why so I had to climb it to see! I climbed into the hut, just for a quick rest. Once I was rested I skiied all the way up to the top of the mountain to have a look at the wonderful views. It was very refreshing up there and I looked at the view for a very long time before heading back down the mountain again, very happy! More soon!

Treacle in Engelberg
Posted January 9th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
Today we went up into the mountain to go skiing! To get up to the mountain, you need to take the lift. I was sandwiched inbetween some huge human beings, which meant that I didn't really so very much. So I went to the window to have a better look. My travelling companion held on as tightly as he could, but of course as usual I fell out, sigh. Luckily I landed in some very soft snow and didn't hurt myself, phew!
I wanted to try to climb back up to the cabin again, but my companions didn't that was such a good idea, so we decided to stay at the intermediate Gerschnialp level and do some cross country skiing instead. You can see me with my lift ticket in my hand, which is always very important to keep with you at all times! Then I skiied off on a strange track into the woods and off piste. At this point no-one was really sure where I went or what I got up to between this time and getting back to the village, but I'll reveal that information in my next blog entry!

Treacle in Luzern
Posted January 8th, 2010 by TreacleHello!
I've travelled to Switzerland to spend some time skiing! It's lovely and snowy here, just like everywhere else at the moment! To get to the ski resort we had to take the train from the Zentralbahn in the city of Luzern up to Engelberg. It's a very small and really cute railway with a rail gauge of only 1,000 mm. I decided that I wanted to have the best view possible going up into the Alps, so I got on the very front of the train. The crew of the train didn't think that was the best place for me though and I was reseated into one of the three coaches
On the steepest part of the line, cogs are used to pull the train uphill (or to break it when going down). You can see how steep the line is in the second picture by how much I had to tilt the picture to make the trees be upright! It was brilliant! We were soon in Engelberg though and ready for some adventures!

Treacle in Västervik
Posted December 25th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
God Jul and Happy Christmas! I hope that every one is having a really great snowy christmas, (as long as you're somewhere that is supposed to be snowy, if you're in Sydney, then it probably wouldn't be a good thing for you to have snow!) You can see me in snowy Västervik! I decided to try out the lovely Christmas Tree to see if it was comfortable, it wasn't really, rather too spiky. So I thought I'd try the snow out too. That was much better, but a bit cold! You can also see me on the statue in Spötorget. Finally I looked in through lots of different windows and I found a very familiar man, he looked like he was in trouble though and didn't want to be locked in that room! I decided to leave very quickly to make sure I didn't get into trouble with him! More adventures soon!

Treacle Goes to A Julbord Part II
Posted December 22nd, 2009 by TreacleHello again!
It was a really fantastic julbord, which literally means Christmas Table, full of wonderful food, so much food I had to blog twice to fit it all in! With the Julbord you have to have Christmas beer, I only had a paw dip, not too much. This was the beer of year, brewed by the local brewery Åbro in Vimmerby. For dessert we had ris à la Malta, really, really tasty. Tee hee, I didn't eat all of that bowl though, that was the serving dish. In the pictures you can see the view from the window in the restaurant over the archipeligo of Västervik with the traditional advent ljustak in the window. Then finally on the way back from the island of Idö. Maybe I'll be asked back again next year, it was really, really wonderful. I'm a bit full now though!

Posted December 18th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
Today we went to the Museum of Natural Science, the Naturmusem Senckenberg. You can see me outside the museum in front of on of Frankfurt's skyscrapers. This one is called "the pencil". Also just outside the entrance of the museum there is a dinosaur, he was really very, very large. Quite scary for a little bear! You can read more about the dinosaur here. When we got inside the museum I decided to put my belongings in the wardrobe locker, but unfortunately I fell totally inside the locker and got locked in. So I had to wait for two hours for my friends to come back and rescue me! At least I got to see the dinosaur though and he was brilliant! More soon!

Posted December 17th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
I've travelled down to Frankfurt for a quick visit. The first thing we had to do, of course, was find something to eat. You can see me with a huge jug of beer. (I only had a sip of the Königs Pilsener, too big for a little bear like me) I always find it hard to know how to spell, I was a bear with a beer, lol! There was so much good food, I had waffles with plum and cream. Very, very tasty! Then it was time for the christmas sweeties, I got a bit muddled up with the sweets, but luckily no-one ate me and I was safe, phew! More soon!

Treacle goes to Cats
Posted December 15th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
Well, I'm back in Sweden now and moving onto my next adventure. I've waved good bye to my current travelling companions and said hello to my new one (hello Anders!) We went to see Cats at the "Cirkus" theatre in Stockholm. You can see me searching for my seat on the balcony and then trying to make myself comfortable on my seat. The seats in the theatre are nice and spacious, but this makes it a bit uncomfortable for a small bear like me, you can't really see anything because the seat in front is a bit tall. So I tried to tilt my chair a bit higher, but of course I fell inbetween the seat and it's back, sigh. Luckily I was rescued by a lovely person in the audience who let me sit on their knee for the rest of the performance, hurrah! Thank you!!! More soon.

Treacle in Tirana
Posted December 14th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
This is my last update from my wonderful Balkern adventure. I've had lots of fun out here, I've not got into too many scrapes, but that's not a bad thing! I'm in Tirana, which is the capital of Albania. I really do love travelling you know and I got a bit edgy on my last day here. I went to see the National Historical Museum, you can see the facade on the front called the Albanians. If you look really closely on the left hand side, the people are all looking up and shooting. What they didn't know when they made that mosaic was that they were actually looking at/aiming at a little teddy bear that was jumping up to try and get a better look! Whilst I was in a jumping mood I also visited the statue of the national hero Skanderbeg, I wondered if I could jump up next to him, but it was far too large and far too dangerous, so luckily I didn't manage it. You can see me in the hotel too, I thought that the toilets were very strange in that hotel! They had strange bridges too, you could fall off one of those!
Finally I decided at the airport that I'd try to jump over an aeroplane, I managed it too. Tee hee! Oh well, time to leave Albania and the Balkerns. It's been great!

Posted December 11th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
We took the train from Pogradec to Durres, which is on the coast. It was a 6 hours train journey even though it's not very far! So I sat on the train all day. The train was probably the worst train that I have ever been on! All the windows were cracked, really nasty! When I got to Durres I went to the beach, because I love beaches, but the beach was really, really horrible, it's a bit cold to swim anyway, but it was nasty! I don't think I should stay in Durres very long, definitely time to move on!

Posted December 10th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
We travelled through the former Yugoslavian republic of Macedonia by bus and ended up in the south west of the country. Here we crossed the border into Albania and got as far as the city of Pogradec. You can see me in front of the big and beautiful Lake Ohrid. It was so windy that you can see my scarf flapping around like crazy! You can also see me in a really typical Albanian scene, lots of families have a little piece of land and on this land they put a cow. Very rural and idylic. Moving on now! Back on the train I think!

Treacle in Macedonia
Posted December 9th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
I hopped onto the night train and travelled south to the former Yugoslavian republic of Macedonia. It really is a very silly name! It's silly because the Greeks (back a long time ago) had a place called Macedonia and the people here in this area didn't like them ... so they decided to call themselves Macedonia too. Very silly! In the pictures you can see me in front of the most famous landmark in Skopje, the stone bridge. I also visited the museum, which was really badly damaged when the earthquake in 1963 happened. This half standing building is there as a reminder of all the people that died. I also tried to make friends with a bull in the middle of Skopje but it didn't go well... After all the traveling around I got tired and decded to go and write postcards in a cafe instead. It was hard work, but I got them all written and posted without getting into trouble at all! Phew! Time to move on again now!

Posted December 8th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
I've now arrived in the capital of Serbia, Belgrade. We visited Kalemegdan, the historical fortress and park in central Belgrade, in front of the place where the two huge rivers, the Danube and the Sava merge. I found a funny pipe think and wondered what it was, so I climbed inside to find out. I suddenly realised that I should get out of there really, really quickly - it was a cannon!!!! Luckily it was an old one in the war museum, phew! I really do need to be careful when exploring! I tried to shoot a hole in the wall with the cannon, but I was too small to be able to move the level. Time to move on anyway! A new update soon!

Posted December 3rd, 2009 by TreacleHello!
We took the bus out of bar for a trip to the seaside. I don't think I like these Balkern beaches very much. In Jamaica and Fiji the beaches were fantastic and soft and yellow and sandy. But here they are filled with pebbles that are very uncomfortable to lie on! I'm told that they are filled with people in the summer, but as it's December now they're a bit cold and empty. I lay along way from the waters edge to make sure that I didn't get covered in water again, but still, somehow I managed to get covered in pebbles. Sigh, it's not my day! I think it's time for another country....

We're in Kotor and just like Dubrovnik it's really beautiful and the view was amazing! I'm a little scared of tall walls now though, so I took a quick peak and then moved straight away and on. Treacle and the Wall
Posted November 24th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
I decided to leave the beach and the funny wooden contraption and thought I'd go and take a closer look at the old city wall. It's a lovely wall and you can see the mediteranean very well from the top of it. I lost my footing though and slipped, luckily my really good friend Lizz was there to save me, hurrah! She caught me just in the nick of time, phew. I was so shaken by this that I had to sit for a while on Lizz's lap and calm down. It was a busy lap though as a little local cat had also taken up residence there. Once Lizz had left though the cat decided that my lap was the next best thing and sat on me instead. My lap really isn't big enough for a cat though and I got a little bit squashed! Oh well. I also met another travelling companion - Mini-Sven! It was brilliant to catch up on travelling tails together, pop on over to his blog to see more about our meeting! It's time to move onto a new country now I think!

Treacle in Dubrovnik
Posted November 11th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
We've travelled over to Dubrovnik. It is so beautiful! I didn't think it would get any more beautiful than Split, but the views here are wonderful! To get here we had to travel through Bosnia-Herzegovina, but we didn't get off the train, so I have no pictures from there. There is a wall that goes all the way round the city, you can see me infront of it, very pretty. In the wall there are some old sheds for the guards. I decided to try one out for myself, but the door closed behind me, luckily I was small enough to squeeze myself out. Phew, close call! Did you know that bears can climb really well? I decided I wanted to get the best view possible, so I climed onto the roof. Rather dangerous for anyone but a very experienced bear to do! Dubrovnik is so lovely that I think I might stay here a while and not rush off. I'll explore a bit more I think!

Posted November 9th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
We've travelled all the way down to Croatia and the city of Split. Split is a city that has been involved with many countries, after World War I it was part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, which then changed its name to Yugoslavia. After World War II it became part of the socialist republic of Croatia, it ll got very confusing. So here I am anyway in Croatia having a wonderful time. I met a new friend, but I wasn't very sure if he was just talking to me because I was his next meal. So I went off to the old part of Split and one of the old gates in the wall. As I was wondering around I found a very, very cool poster with a bear on it, very cool! We're not hanging around in Split for long though, moving on!

I've made it overseas again, braving the post. There have been a lot of postal strikes in the UK and it took me longer than usual to get through the post, I got quite scared at one point that I'd gone missing and would end up stuck in a cupboard again! Luckily I arrived in Sweden safe and sound to be with my fantastic friends again. We went to a birthday party before the real adventure started and I felt a little bit lonely with everyone partying away, so I decided to make a new friend, Vassi. His fur was very warm and soft so I sat on him for a little while, chatting away. I was so warm and comfy that I fell asleep and managed to get myself underneath him. I'm sure that Vassi was trying to be helpful, but oh no, not again, I found myself in the same position I was in Poland when I met a dog there! Sigh. I decided to hurry on and leave for my next big adventure...

I've gone on an adventure into London. We had to get up very early and went to the station, where I had to stand on the platform in the drizzly rain. There wasn't much space, even for a small bear like me! I had to hold on very hard to the pole to make sure I didn't get trodden under foot! We commuted into Liverpool Street Station and then down into the London Underground. I had to hold onto the hand rail really hard so that I didn't get swallowed up! We finally got to the training session where I was allowed to keep the free pen, calculator and sweet. It was fun in London and I definitely have to go back and see the sites some day, but we went home the same day.

I've made it back home. After an amazing 7 months I'm back home again! It's quite strange really. Of course when you've been away for a while there is always lots of housework and gardening to do! I thought I'd help out in the garden. There's a damson tree that was a bit sick and had to be 'pruned' so I climbed up in the tree and helped cut one of the branches down. Climbing trees with a saw is very, very dangerous though and of course I fell out and managed to get myself caught underneath the branch. Sigh. Because it was a damson tree there were loads of damsons that came down too, so I thought I'd be safer in the kitchen helping to make damson jam. I really thought I'd fall in the jam mix, but luckily I managed to keep myself out of any more trouble, which is good because being in trouble once was quite enough! A new adventure soon!

It was such a lovely hotel room that I had to go around posing on all the places that I could find. To stop myself getting into trouble I went and took in a show at the hotel. It was very nice as were the drinks from the bar. A lovely evening, but I was so tired at the end of it all, being a bit jet-lagged and everything, so by the end I just crashed out on the lovely big bed. It was actually winter in Australia, so some of the places were quite cold, especially Perisher, where it was perishingly cold! The local drinks in Fiji are very nice, the beaches are fantastic! I really do think I'm in paradise! Could any beach be nicer anywhere? (I'll have to do some research!) Because of the sun though it is always best to cover up a little, especially your head and you can see that I covered up very carefully to avoid getting sunstroke. I think my favourite part of the day the though has to be sunset, I'm sure you can see what I mean in the photograph!
Another update soon.

Treacle in Fiji
Posted September 24th, 2009 by TreacleAfternoon!
We've now reached the wonderful island of Fiji. It was quite a long journey! I felt quite tired, after working so hard in Australia and the time difference was so great that I was quite jet lagged, so we all slept for a very, very long time. Not quite as long as the koalas in Australia do, which is 20 hours per day, but still a very long time. You can see the view from our hotel room. Totally awesome, this is the life. I could get use to this!
More about Fiji very soon, I think it's time for another little sleep!

Treacle Back in Sydney
Posted September 23rd, 2009 by TreacleEvening,
Well, after spending some time in Pilbara working it was time to move on again. To move onto a new country we had to go all the way across to Sydney. It might not seem a long way to go from one side of Australia to the other, but if you compare the size of Australia to Europe you'll see that Europe will nearly fit in Australia, it's a really, really long way! You can see the view out of our hotel window over Hyde Park. I wonder if this park got its name from Hyde Park in London? Anyway, this is my last adventure from Australia. After all this hard work I think I need to go somewhere to relax!
A brand new adventure from a brand new country very soon!

Treacle in Pilbara
Posted September 21st, 2009 by TreacleEvening!
My new travelling companions and I have travelled north in Australia. The suitcase was very comfortable, but was glad to come out of it again! We're now in Pilbara, which is one of the regions in North Western Australia. The name came from the Pilbara Goldfield. My companions went out working, but I was too tired after travelling so far north and had to stay behind. This was probably a good thing though as I'm sure I would have definitely got into lots and lots of trouble! You can see me all dressed up in the work clothes, they didn't really fit, so I was definitely safest at home, I could easily have been run over by the 600 tonne trucks.
Another adventure soon!

I was put very carefully into Björn and Emma's suitcase and started a new adventure! We're in Perth at the moment, but I know I'm going to have a wonderful time coming up. Treacle in the Magic Cave
Posted September 19th, 2009 by TreacleEvening!
I've journeyed to a magic cave. It's actually called the Jewel Cave and it's on the road northwest of Augusta. You can see me in the cave. It was very dark and a little bit scary, but was so beautiful with lots and lots of stalagmites and stalagtites. You can see me on a magic stone, well I'm not sure if it was magic or not, but the guide told me it was, so it must have been! It definitely glowed and was very very pretty! I'm on my way back to Perth now and onto a new fabulous adventure!

I've now gone to the most south westerly point in the whole of Australia. It's the point where the Southern Ocean and the Indian Ocean meet. I know this because there was a lovely sign telling me so! We had to travel out on a really point bit of land to get here, I did think it looked like a tongue, you'll have to look on the map, very funny!

Treacle in Augusta
Posted September 17th, 2009 by TreacleEvening!
We've made our way to Georgina Park in Augusta. It's a lovely place where the sea is very warm. You can see me at the beach. You can catch a boat from here and go whale watching to see humpback whales. I decided that it would be better if I stayed on dry land though as I do get a little bit seasick and I remember trying to row a little rowing boat back in Sweden earlier in the year! I was happy though because I did get to see whales from the beach. You probably can't see, but they're in the photograph, behind the boat in the distance. I was happy to have seen them from there! I had so much fun watching the whales in fact that I was nearly forgotten and left behind. Luckily I spotted that I was about to be left behind and jumped up in front of the car. It's not really a good thing to do because I was nearly "akterseglad", which is Swedish for mown down, or sailed upon. Everything was ok in the end though and we carried on our journey to our next adventure!
More soon!

Treacle in Perth Part III
Posted September 16th, 2009 by TreacleEvening!
I was so right about having adventures anywhere! I'm still in the same hotel as yesterday, but I managed to get into trouble again! In every hotel room I've been in there is always a safe so that you can lock your valuables up safely. I managed to get myself locked in! Luckily my friend Dan was able to rescue me, phew! It's not just safes that are dangerous though, even food is! I was busily trying to lick the last tiny bit of honey goodness (did you know that bears like honey?) out of a little pot when I managed to get my head totally stuck inside it! I saw the funny side of it though and decided that I should wear the pot like a helmet from a suit of armour, just like Ned Kelly. Ned Kelly was a bushranger and folk hero, he was always getting into trouble and he was known for wearing a suit of armour with a helmet just like my honey pot here!. You can see that I did my research in the fourth picture, I'm reading up on Ned so that I can avoid getting into trouble like him!
We're leaving this area now, so an update from somewhere else very soon!

Treacle in Perth Part II
Posted September 15th, 2009 by TreacleMorning!
There are always adventures to be had, wherever you go and I had a little adventure this morning! We are now in a new hotel, still in Perth. It's just as posh as the last one, so I though, I need to tidy myself up a bit. I've been on the road for a while and it's probably time for a shave! So I had a shave and this was fine. Next I thought, it's probably time to have a wash, so I got into the sink and began to have a wash with the soap (you can see it in the second picture). What I hadn't realised was that it wasn't soap, it was bath foam, so I got covered all over in bubbles. I didn't mind too much though, it was much lighter and nicer than sand or snow and made me nice and clean, although it did tickle a bit! Luckily there was a drying stand nearby, so I could dry out nicely.
oh, well. Another adventure very soon, I'm quite sure!

I've now travelled further west and arrived in Perth. We decided to stay in a lovely hotel the Sheraton hotel to be exact, yay! You can see the fantastic view out of the window of our 19th floor room. Wow! The best bit about staying in lovely hotels is that there are lots and lots of pillows, so comfortable! But sometimes there can be too many pillows for little bears and I fell off :( Oh well. That's the dangers of travelling I guess! Another update soon!

Treacle skiing in Oz!
Posted September 3rd, 2009 by TreacleAfternoon!
I'm really, really loving Australia! I'm having a really cool time! We've travelled to the ski resort of Perisher. I had no idea that you could ski in Australia, a total surprise! I expected hot and sunny weather the whole time, wild! Once I found out you could ski though, I had to try it out! You can see me trying to ski, but the ski poles where just too long for me, sigh!
So I decided to go for a walk instead, but it started to snow and I was really quickly covered up to my head in snow. It was just like being on the beach all over again. Luckily my trusty friend Dan was there to rescue me. Unlike sand though it meant I got a bit of a clean, which was quite nice!
There is actually quite a lot of snow in Australia, especially if you are a little bear! Another update very soon!

Treacle in Canberra
Posted August 26th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
We went south out of Sydney on the train and to Australia's capital city, Canberra. It's a lovely place. The roads are all built in a circle around the centre. It's quite strange with all the circles and straight lines, very easy for a little bear to get lost! You can see me at the Youth Hostel in bed (lovely large bed!). I had to make myself presentable, so I combed my fur very thoroughly, being in the capital city and everything! Our first trip was to Mount Ainslie, which had the most amazing view over Canberra, you can nearly make out the circle streets! Then we went to the big War Memorial with the Anzac parade behind me. The white building that you can see on the horizon is the parliament building, quite a long straight parade!
We're not staying in Canberra long though, time to move on! Another update very soon!

Sitting and waiting, drinking tea, sleeping. Everyone around me seemed to sleep, so I thought I'd use the same position as them, it seemed to mean that there was less snoring. All good adventures start at an airport and they don't get much bigger than this! (Both the adventure and the airport!) Heathrow is totally massive, very easy for a little bear like me to get lost in, luckily I just sat quietly and the only trouble I managed to get into was nearly sliding down inside the chair and getting lost in the dust. Phew! There wasn't really much to do at Heathrow, but I'm sure I'll be back here sometime, I'd like to try to find some place to go that all the bears could have their photos taken, like the metal man at Schiphol Airport, that would be cool! I'm back in Sweden now, the last leg of this mighty fine adventure. You can just see out of the window of the train that it was dark and rainy, yuck, November weather! I think my next adventure might have to somewhere hot and sunny, hmm... You can see in the pictures that I got a bit bored on the train you can see me with my legs crossed needing to use the little bears room, trying out my scarf in new and fashionable ways and then finally practising my karate moves. It's always good when you're travelling lots to take opportunities to keep supple. So this is the end of this adventure, but I know where I'm going next and it's going to be lots and lots of fun!
I'll be blogging again soon, but I think I might be out of range of a computer for a little while...

Treacle in Leba
Posted July 23rd, 2009 by Treacle Good Morning!
I've just finished an adventure in Leba, right in the north of Poland. I'd had such a dull time in Lebork that I thought it was time to have a real adventure. Leba is famous for it's sand dunes, so I jumped on a bike and pedalled off 7 kilometers outside the town to see them. The sand dunes really were magnificent, they looked like a desert! Too much like a desert, I walked and walked and didn't take enough water and I got lost and it got windy and I got buried ... again. It was horrible. Luckily my friend Dan rescued me (for the third time) from being buried in the sand and took me me to the town where I could rehydrate myself with an odd raspberry drink and take shelter from the sun.
Phew, that was a close encounter!
My adventures in Poland are nearly at an end, we're on the way home now. It's been brilliant fun though!

I thought Lebork looked like good fun, so I got off the train there and went to the bus ticket office to go out and about. Unfortunately it was shut, very annoying! So I decided not to stay in Lebork for very long and left straight away!
Hopefully more fun adventures soon!

Treacle in Hel
Posted July 18th, 2009 by TreacleMorning!
I'm still on my adventure in Poland and it's been very exciting. We got on a boat and went to the town of Hel. Hel is a 33 kilometer very narrow peninsular, if you look at the map, you'll see how thin it is! You can see that I wanted to get a better view, so I sat on the gunwale, and managed to slip, but luckily I was caught by my good friend Toni and he saved me! Phew, thank you Toni. A close escape there, it wasn't a very good place to sit really. Whilst we were in Hel we saw a stall selling lots of other teddies. Unfortunately I was mistaken for one of the bears on sale and ended up on the stall. I was rescued again in the nick of time!
Because Hel is on the peninsula there are lots and lots of wonderful beaches. I did some nice sunbathing, but I ended getting buried again, beaches are so dangerous! Sigh.
It was soon time to leave though, so I sat and waited at the railway station for a train. More from my adventure soon!

Treacle goes to the Beach
Posted July 13th, 2009 by TreacleMorning!
I made it to the beach! I was so happy. After all our travelling by train down to the south coast it was wonderful just to lie in the sand and sunbath for a bit. This beach is called Arkadia, just outside Odessa city. All the posh people come here, so I felt in very good company. Unfortunately the beach is a very big scary place really and I managed to get myself buried in sand. :( I think bears must be quite unhappy here because I found a poster of a really sad bear. I wonder why he was so unhappy! I was sat thinking about this and feeling a bit hungry on a bench when I spotted anohter poster of Ikra, Russian caviar, so I decided I should try to find some to eat. It's been lovely in the Ukraine, even if I did get buried in sand, better that than sunburn! It's time to leave here now and travel back north again by train. I wonder what adventures I'll have on my way home?

Believe it or not it was quite nice after all the train food! We did a little bit of sight seeing, you can see me in front of the World War II monument. I have feeling you could see monuments like this all over the world. :(
I finally got to see the sea. I was very excited! This is the Black sea, I so want to go to the beach and go sunbathing! I can't wait! To get to the beach you had to take a cableway. I had to hang on really really tightly so that I did't fall off. Quite scary for a little bear like me!

Treacle's Greenland Adventure, part 2
Posted June 19th, 2009 by TreacleGood Afternoon!
Whilst in Greenland I went on many adventures, some of them were quite dangerous, but luckily I survived! I went for a wonderful walk, I had a good view of where we were going from a trouser pocket, I felt like a kangaroo! You can see a wonderful view out over some sand. This sand was no ordinary sand, it was quicksand. We had to make sure that we kept to the edge otherwise we'd all have been sucked down into the earth as quick as a flash! There are lots of interesting flowers and trees in Greenland, the purple flowers are called Azalea and were wonderful. Really hardy to survive here! The tree I'm sat in was really cool too, but I don't remember what it was called. At one point we were attacked by a swarm of horrible mosquitos, they even managed to bite their way through my fur, horrible!
It was a very long day for a little bear like me and I was so hungry by the time I got home and I slept like a log in my wonderfully comfortable bed!
I'll write another adventure tomorrow, but be warned, it's not for the faint of heart!

That's how you say hello in the language that the people from Greenland speak. I've come over to Greenland for an amazing trip! It is wonderful over here! I think I expected everything to be all snowy, like in the picture on the bottom left, but it was mostly like the pictures on the top, lots of rocks and patches of green everywhere. But then, we didbn't go very far into the country. Have a look at the map and in satelite view and you'll see! With global warming I think more and more of it is becoming green and less and less white :(
I met a nice new friend, a polar bear and her cub. They showed me around and helped me out whenever I got lost. It was a very big and scary country and I got into lots of scrapes. I'll tell you more about my adventures in Greenland very soon and about the wonderful things I saw!

It is quite traditional for Swedes to have a little red house (or stuga) out in the country and this is where we've gone. It's a lovely little house and of course I offered to help in all ways that I could! You can see me watering the plants and breaking up stones with a little fire. Saturday was of course the Swedish national day and so I helped put the flag up. The fourth photo is from a mile stone. A Swedish mile is equivalent to 10 kilometers, so it's quite confusing really, the quarter of a mile is two and a half kilometers! lol! Anyway, I need to do some packing, I'm off to a new country soon, very exciting!

I've discovered that Swedes like to be out in the forest a lot, which is brilliant, because that's my favourite place too (being a bear and all!). Orienteering started in Sweden in the late 19th century and started in military training and has become a really really popular sport. I loved it and want to do more! Anders showed me all the rules and I helped him find hidden pathways in the forests that only bears know. We were a great team! My trip to Germany is nearly over. I've had such great fun, we've done loads of cool things. You can see me in the Old Elbe Tunnel. I always like to try to make as many friends as I can and I made friends with a very nice German bear, his name was Herman the German Bear!
The lady in the statue is Zitronenjette, she sold lemons on the streets of Hamburg and lived from 1841 - 1916. She's a very famous lady in Hamburg now. I'd like to think that if she'd still been alive I'd have bought a lemon from her to put in my coke!

You can see me with the dentist, I ate too many sweets yesterday and had to pay a visit to the dentist. It's always best to be careful when eating sweets! See the tooth in the dentists hand? I loved seeing the windmill and also the Christmas tree made of clogs, wonderful! That's al for today. Another adventure very soon.
lots of love

Lots of Food!
Posted April 29th, 2009 by TreacleAfternoon,
I'm having the most wonderful time with my new friend Hanna. She's taken me to lots of wonderful places. In this trip I've tried cheeses and sweets and all sorts! We're in the little village of Zaanse Schans, it's really small, but wonderful! You can see me at the Cheese Farm D Catherinahoeve. You can get all different flavours of cheese, pepper, smoked garlic, herbs and I'm sitting on dutch mustard! In the other pictures you can see me trying to decide what traditional old sweets to have and you can see traditional Stroopwafels on my knee. They were definitely the best!
I'm going to go and have a lie down now as Ive eaten too many sweets, but I'll update some more later one!
See you laters!

Luxembourg Treacle
Posted April 21st, 2009 by TreacleEvening,
I've gone on a day trip to Luxembourg. It's a very small little country, but a very very important one! I've had a great day, saw the statue of the Grande-Duchesse Charlotte, she ruled Luxembourg from 1919 - 1964. I felt very honoured to be in the palm of her hand. We then celebrated with a glass of something nice and cool. My guide LIzz has gone back home and left me in the wonderful company of Hanna. I hope to have another adventure with her before going back to England.

Dutch Treacle
Posted April 20th, 2009 by TreacleGood evening!
I'm in another country, I've come to The Netherlands and am in Amsterdam for a couple of days. I've had a wonderful time and I think the highlight has to be the Heineken museum. You were shown everything from the brewing of the beer, to pulling pints and even the drinking of it. (I wasn't actually doing the drinking though as I'm too young still) I really want to come back to Amsterdam and see some more of the wonderful sites here!
Another adventure soon.

Italian Treacle
Posted April 15th, 2009 by TreacleMorning!
My Easter trip was to Italy, the home of, um, spaghetti! I went skiing with some very lovely people who looked after me very well. We tried to find a helmet to keep my head safe, but they were all too big. It kept me nice and snug and warm from all the snow though when we had our spaghetti lunches up the mountain. The snow was quite slushy and heavy, but it was good fun! Now, where shall I go next?

Treacle goes to a Wedding
Posted April 9th, 2009 by TreacleAfternoon all!
I've just been to my first wedding. I had such fun! I travelled with the best woman, she had so much to do from organising the groom, doing a best woman's speech and making sure things ran smoothly. This included making sure that I was dressed all neat and tidy, so I was put in a trouser press, just to make sure I was all ready! Luckily I survived and you can see me with the bride. It was a very long and tiring day and I slept so well afterwards in the wonderful four poster bed. I've never been in such a posh bed before, it was very, very lovely! Another adventure soon I hope!
Take care.

Swiss Treacle
Posted March 14th, 2009 by TreacleHello,
I've gone on my first trip since leaving my cupboard. It feels great to be out and about. I'm in Geneva visiting some family (hello everyone!). The weather has been awesome bright sunshine with lots of snowcapped mountains all around the city. I went into the city and saw the biig water spout, that was fun. I also went to the United Nations Office and saw some amazing rooms and even the UN's emblem on the wall, you can see me in one above. I've had a lovely time with my family and am looking forward to my next trip. Hope everyone is well back at home. Take care.

Stuck in a cupboard
Posted March 9th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
So, here I am, now in the United Kingdom, I was stuck in a box, but I've been liberated and am going to continue on my travels. I'm so excited at being on the road again. It's been so long and I'm so happy! I wonder where I'll go? I'll wonder who I'll meet? I wonder if I'll bring back some momentos of the countries that I go to. I'd really like to collect a book of postcards about all the places that I go to with stories from the people that I go with. Whatever happens, the world is my oyster and I hope to have lots of fun and lots of cuddles!

A big hello from Treacle!
Posted March 9th, 2009 by TreacleHello!
I'm Treacle the Travelling Teddy, or just Treacle for short. I am so happy to be able to join all the other travelling bears on this website. It's such fun to be able to share my adventures with everyone! I'm a bear who's been on the road for sometime, but I got stuck just after starting my travels, so I've not gone very far. I was born in Canada, the cold, cold ski resort of Whistler, this picture is of me on a ski lift. It was rather nippy! I've got a nice warm scarf now to keep me warm, thank goodness. I loved Whistler, a lovely tree lined resort with some high mountain tops. I even had some cousins of mine sleeping in the tree roots around the resort waiting for the summer to arrive so they could come out of hibernation.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to sharing my travels with everyone, so I'll post again very soon. Keep an eye out for where I end up....
